Closet Systems: A Primer in Numbers and Colors

Some people are whizzes with numbers. If you’re not one of them, no need to worry. We live and breathe numbers... especially these ones:

¾” – the thickness of all our shelves*
14” – the standard depth of all our closet units**
14” and 20” together – in a hutch, these are the depths for the upper and lower sections, respectively
18”, 24” and 30” – the standard width of our drawer units**
5", 8" and 12" – our standard drawer heights

*Shelves are guaranteed for as long as you own your home.
**Widths/depths of shelving/units can be adjusted for a nominal fee.

In fact, we had so much fun with those numbers, we came up with a special set for hanging organization units:

Tall hanging: A recommended height of 65” (allows for hanging of long dresses, coats, and robes)
Double hanging: A recommended upper closet rod height of 80 1/4", and a lower height of 39 1/4" (allows hanging of most shirts, folded pants, suits, blouses, jackets and blazers)
Medium hanging: A recommended closet rod height of 45 1/4", for a unit with 48" verticals (accommodates long skirts, and pants hung by the cuff)
Short hanging: A recommended closet rod height of 39 1/4" (like double hanging units, these are for most shirts, folded pants, suits, blouses, jackets and blazers)

And though some truly brilliant math people in the world see numbers as shapes, colors, and textures in their minds, our brains don’t work quite like that. Instead, we just have a few favorite colors we use in our closet systems...
